Now that we are putting the finishing touches on two of our contemporary lodges our focus moves towards updating the website. Please bear with us while we remove legacy text and images from the site which relate to West Pitt Farm Holidays in particular any reference to cottages.

Information relating to Oak & Beech Lodges such as pricing, availability, description and pictures are correct.

As the lodges are completed more detailed pictures will be added to the site.

Thanks

Fishery under new ownership

Thursday 28th July 2016

The Fishery changed hands at the end of June with Seb Parker & Angela Tadd becoming the new owners.

Mallard and Willow lakes are open as usual with great sport for all the family; carp to 10lb, Crucians to 1lb 10oz and Roach / Rudd to over a 1lb being caught regularly throughout July.

Unfortunately Kingfisher lake & Farmyard pond are no longer available for fishing.

Work has begun clearing a stock pond in the third field to help in the managment of the fisheries stocks, netting of the lakes will happen during the winter to provide great fishing for 2017.

A longer term plan is to dig a third lake in this field, watch this space!

10 Things you can do to help with a green holiday while at West Pitt Farm in Devon

10 Things you can do to help with a green holiday while at West Pitt Farm in Devon

Tuesday 24th September 2013

Our policy at West Pitt  is to minimise our impact on the environment while offering high quality, comfortable accommodation in Devon’s glorious countryside.  Here are 10 things we suggest our guests might do to help with a greener holiday at West Pitt Farm in Devon.

1. Conserve energy. Please switch off lights when not required and when you go out of the cottage. Close windows and doors when the heating is on. In fine weather use the washing line to dry your washing.

2. Conserve water. At West Pitt Farm our water comes from our own borehole providing fresh spring water to all the cottages. Please remember not to leave taps running.

3. Travel by train. We can arrange a complimentary pick up and return to Tiverton Parkway Rail Station which is just a few minutes’ drive from West Pitt. There are lots of ideas for days out by train too.

4. Give the car a rest. At West Pitt Farm there is plenty to do on site with our indoor heated swimming pool, games’ room, grass tennis court, fishing, children’s play area together with walking and cycle paths nearby. Map packs are provided together with local cycle hire information.

5. Days out under an hour’s drive. Enjoy all Exeter has to offer and use the Park and Ride service. There are free red badge day tours too. Experience wonderful wildlife at Escot Park. Have fun at Crealy Park. Visit historic homes and gardens such at Knightshayes Court, Powderham Castle and Hestercombe Gardens. These are just a few of the ideas we provide for days out nearby.

6. Reduce, reuse and recyle. Use the easily accessible and clearly labelled bins to recycle items. Remember to take bags when going shopping. Let us know if have not used any linen or towels in your cottage to save washing.

7. Remember to shower before using the swimming pool. This will reduce the amount of chemicals required to keep the pool clean and reduce the amount on your skin. Remember to cover the pool following your swim; it will help to keep it warm for your next swim.

8. Follow the Countryside Code. Respect wildlife and other people enjoying the outdoors, protect the environment and wildlife by not leaving any litter, keep dogs under control and always clean up after your dog, close gates and follow paths.

9. Shop local. There are two farm shops just a few miles from West Pitt Farm offering excellent local produce. In addition, there are markets in Tiverton and Cullompton just 10 minutes away.

10. Let us know how we can improve. We welcome any ideas you may have for a greener holiday.

Birthday treat for son

Birthday treat for son

Monday 4th June 2012

Stuart and his son had a great day's fishing...

"I just wanted to thank you for an absolutely fantastic day on Sunday 13th May.  We fished from 8am - 8pm and caught somewhere around 100 fish, by far our biggest ever haul!  My son had the time of his life and still can't stop talking about what an incredible day it was, and all on his his birthday. We really couldn't have asked for a better day. We came home sunburnt, knackered and with grins like Chesire cats!  The ponds and surrounding area are absolutely beautiful and you clearly care a great deal about the whole set-up so thank you for all your efforts.  Many thanks again, I'm sure we'll be back soon!"  Stuart Eaglesome

We look forward to seeing you again at the Fishery.

Carp on Mallard Lake

Carp on Mallard Lake

Thursday 30th June 2011

"Thank you for a wonderful day's fishing at West Pitt Farm.  I will certainly be coming back.  Had in excess of 300lb of carp from Mallard Lake while fishing near the outlet pipe.  Lost the top of my pole that day too!!"   Keith from Bideford, Devon  June 2011

Excellent fishing at West Pitt Farm

Saturday 7th May 2011

Paul Warren from Wellington has reported his recent catches on Mallard Lake : "Sunday - 125lbs - 80 fish - of which 5 were crucian best 2lb 3oz - best carp 4lb 13oz - I used 14 elastic - size 16 hook.  Monday - 103lbs - 49 fish - 1 crucian 1lb 8oz - best carp 6lb 10oz - I used 18 elastic - size 12 hook.  I think this proves on the pole you catch more with lighter elastic and smaller hooks at this time of the year."

David Bell visiting West Pitt Farm Fishery for the first time last week: "Just a quick note to say thanks.  We have been at your ponds twice this week and were very impresed.  Having fished all over the southwest we have never found a cleaner or well presented fishery.  We have told all our fishing friends and will be back next Wednesday to have another go.  Thank you once again."  David Bell
